Deep Roots MV — Landscaping with conservation in mind

Our Purpose

"Landscaping with conservation in mind."

I started MV Roots because I saw a need for an organization focusing on sustainable and organic landscaping regardless of a property's size. I took the opportunity to mentor the next generation, teaching that conservation can start in your backyard.

I intend to use the knowledge I acquired from over 15 years of working in this field to teach about conservation and show how a beautiful landscape can be clean and free of harmful products.

The goal is to help people understand that a beautiful and healthy yard can be achieved through soil care and an eco-friendly, affordable, and sustainable organic landscape — one that allows plants to thrive without excessive fertilization and watering.

Our Mission

🌿

Eco-Friendly Services

Sustainable and organic landscaping practices that minimize nitrogen and harmful chemicals from entering the island's ponds and groundwater, alongside low-emission mowing services.

🎓

Education & Training

Seminars and hands-on training for professionals, homeowners, and businesses — mentoring the next generation to discover that sustainable and organic landscaping is possible and achievable.

⚗️

Safe Product Handling

Training for landscape businesses on the proper use of fertilizers, herbicides, and fungicides so every worker on the island understands the risks of mishandling regulated products.

🤝

Island Conservation

Active collaboration with local organizations that support the conservation of ponds, native habitats, and the protection of endemic plant and insect species.

Our Commitment

We provide eco-friendly and affordable general landscaping services focused on sustainable and organic practices that minimize the impact of harmful chemicals on the island's ponds and groundwater. We also offer eco-friendly lawn mowing with low carbon emissions.

We are committed to providing educational seminars and hands-on training to professionals, homeowners, and businesses — and to working alongside Island organizations that support the conservation of ponds, native habitats, and endemic species.

Our Plan

1

Education & Training

Education and awareness are the first steps to successfully changing how we treat our planet. We provide workshops, hands-on training, and consultations to professionals, businesses, and homeowners.

As a state-licensed pesticide applicator, we offer informational workshops and classes about pesticides, fungicides, and any regulated products by the EPA and the state.

2

Consultation

How often do we find ourselves in a situation where the person offering a product or service does not take the time to truly listen? Whether it's a hardscape, softscape, or architectural design, the challenge is making professionals understand that their vision may differ from what you actually want.

We hope to change that by providing consultations that take the time to listen to your goals, understand your vision, and meet your needs.

3

Provide Service

After listening to and understanding your vision, we create the foundation of your unique, individualized maintenance plan for a sustainable, organic, and low-cost landscape service — including:

  • Collecting soil and plant samples to identify deficiencies and address the root causes of any problems
  • Choosing suitable plant material — noninvasive and native to the region — that looks great, is low maintenance, and attracts pollinators and beneficial insects
  • Irrigation monitoring to help conserve water
  • Lawn care without harmful chemicals and eco-friendly mowing with low carbon emissions
  • Safe organic pest control
4

Mentoring

We want to help the next generation discover that even a tiny piece of land is essential to the greater scheme of things. When you understand how it all comes together and its connection to our surrounding environment, you also learn to respect our island's natural ecosystem.
